But I am a bit more interested in the feel of the hardware workflow than the comparison between Reason and Live (that would be a separate thread, probably). This version of the MPC builds on years of music production knowledge, with the first MPC being revealed in the late 1980s.

By registering the supplied licence in your account with a particular software vendor you are creating a permanent record of ownership so please be advised to make a note of your login details at the time of registration. The Live II can be the centrepiece of any music production studio or hardware rig as well as a fully-equipped production station that enables you to create music wherever you take it, with up to five hours of on-the-go use thanks to its onboard rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery. Now you can simultaneously connect and route all the MIDI gear in your studio, including class compliant USB Keyboards, MIDI interfaces and USB to CV modules, supercharging your I/O capability. MPC's project structure has more in common with a drum machine or Elektron device, where each Sequence is an independent entity. you can now plug your favorite USB class-compliant audio interface into the MPC Live II to directly record instrument and vocal tracks.High-powered DrumSynth Instrument Plugin delivers advanced synthesiser drum sound design to MPC and FORCE in free update. In addition to those free plugins, you have the option to acquire paid deep FM synth, Piano/Organ/Strings plugins, great sounding rompler and now a Mini D recreation (an MPC is the perfect GAS killer). The synthesizer contains all the important parameters and is detailed to match the MPC's user interface. Obviously there's no touchscreen on the Studio but I imagine it's just as easy, if not more so, to use a mouse to operate the MPC 2 software. I connected the Retrokits RK006 interface that I have on test, and boom: 10 new MIDI output ports on my MPC!

We still wouldn’t rely on it for mixing or in-depth sound design, but for setting up kits and bashing out patterns it works nicely. The original MPC Live was good: the pads are sensitive, the vintage sound emulation is fun, there are enough ins and outs to work with. The Pad control buttons along the top of the unit have shuffled together to make room for four more, along with a much better master volume pot.For more information on how to transfer our samplepacks to the MPC X, check out our Standalone MPC File Transfer Guide. The software limitations of Lite seems like heavy handed gate-keeping that will hurt sales for the unit. Built-in monitors - They’re actually surprisingly useful to quickly get a feel for the levels of the elements of a track, and the kids love using it that way. Just received my mpc live 2 from these guys, excellent service on the phone to explain the product and methods to pay. Channeling the spirit of its famous predecessor into a modern unit made for portable playability, the Akai MPC Live Standalone Sampler/Sequencer is a versatile option for home production and performance alike.

From the heart of the Akai Professional MPC Live II shines a 7-inch full-color, multi-touch display. When we reviewed the previous MPC Live, we said the software – in standalone mode, at least – felt occasionally convoluted and disjointed, and we stand by that criticism now; there are a lot of different views and menus to navigate, and while much of the workflow is intuitive, some features end up buried amongst sub-menus.However, as the MPC user interface sprawls across multiple views, direct mode buttons really speed things up. If the OP has narrowed his personal choice to those two devices there isn’t any ‘need’ to include the M+ or anything else… ‘have you thought about the Maschine+?
