The end of a series I can never read again, because I know the evil person the character I rooted for throughout two books becomes. I did like the way that this novel picked up characters and character threads introduced back in the first book: there was a clear cohesion between the three novels – cricky I do sound like a teacher there!

Took me a while to get into in it nearly went on my DNF list but I'm glad I carried on just if the is the final one the ending isn't great it leave it open for another one. Almost the entirety of this series is dedicated to Pip and Ravi covering her tracks and framing Max for the murder from trying to alter the time of death by moving, cooling and warming Jason’s body to manipulate the factors used to determine time of death. I’m not gonna lie though, I was still screaming at Pip in my head when she decided to cover it up instead of just going to the cops. however, she felt like she understood them and why they did it, and she had no one to talk to about it bc it’s morally known as “wrong” and no one would get it. I don’t know about you, but I would rather have that police chief think I’m paranoid than try to sleep at night knowing a killer is watching my house. When she starts to find connections between her stalker and a local serial killer caught six years ago, she wonders if maybe the wrong man is behind bars. If Pip really cared about Ravi she would break up with him and ask him to move on because she is dangerous.

The first thing that happened and the last thing that happened, the same thing- but in a different light. Or the fact that the police was continuously portrayed as nothing but a useless 🤡 throughout the series. Maria explains that Billy worked for Green Scene, Jason Bell’s company so he worked on a lot of the sites where the bodies were dumped and found Tara’s body. And Pippa – when kidnapped – actually considers that question and answers it – her parents, her brother, Ravi, her friends, Cara and Ward, Connor and Jamie Reynolds, Nat da Silva … She has a not insignificant number of people to whom she can turn and she doesn’t. From this point on, there is a significant change in the tone and vibe of the book, and it splits majorly from what we know of our characters and their fundamental morals and beliefs.

Ooh I never would have dreamt of Pip suddenly becoming an anti-hero, i can understand how that would have been frustrating. We don't get to see MJW all out kick-butt the entire time, but he still delivered on the action and thrills either with fists, kicks or guns.

It's a well deserved 8/10 from me, a definite recommend, and I'd have no problem seeing this again with friends. And I very much enjoyed attempting to solve the case with Pip (who I now want to be my best friend). If she had his best interests in heart she would know that he deserved someone else and it would also add some character development because she would be SELF AWARE.
