From the amazing characters to the suspense, this was exciting, entertaining, intense, and all kinds of sexy. At the end we have 4 people who are very close to each other, in an almost incesty vibe - as one happy family. I will say that as the story progressed, I was happy to see Remi and Brick talk things out, and really put more effort into their relationship, especially with Remi trying to show Brick just how much she cared about him, and that she wanted more from him than just physical intimacy. She grew up in a literary family who insisted that the dinner table was for reading and earned a degree in journalism. A moody stoic H who loved the h but felt he wouldn’t be good enough for her so kept himself at arms distance emotionally.

However, following an attempt on her life she decided that going home to the island was the best way to keep safe. All I did was over police a woman I was attracted to because I wanted to control her actions at all times. There was a well-rounded cast of characters from Remi’s parents to Brick’s brother, and her sister, plus so many more. Remi is in trouble but the plot keeps you wondering what it is that she is running from for some time. There is a woman who needs to escape from an abusive relationship, there are families and their pasts, and the dynamics of parents/husbands and wives.

It's a long, complicated history punctuated by fights, friendship, family, and an attraction that strains his iron willpower. this is going to be the review that i’ll struggle the most because i have so much to say yet i’m still speechless.

The tension between Brick and Remi was palpable through the pages and just when I thought they would finally give in, I was left with just a tease (but I enjoyed it nonetheless) in a way, it kind of felt a slow burn romance, since Remi and Brick’s had moments where they were so close to doing something more intimate, but then ultimately either something got in the way or more often it was Brick who didn’t want to cross that line. This is after he’d pushed her away for years and had gotten married and divorced to her best friend. because the more I think about it the less I like it and the more I have a feeling I've read a telenovela. Then BAM Aubrey shows back up after Brick and Remi start living together and SHE STAYS AT THE HOUSE WITH THEM and starts sleeping with Spencer!

Somehow, after leaving Remi broken and used and on the floor, the takeaway is that SHE is using HIM and she has to apologize and convince him she loves him. It's a lot of back and forth between the two with Brick being a Alpha who is grumpy but lovable and Remi the red haired pixie who has come back and turned his and her world in its side.At over 580 pages it a thick book of romance, drama and friendship, I really did enjoy it even though some of the characters names are just really silly, seriously who names their kid Remington Honeysuckle 😆 and shouts 'Holy David Bowie' when frightened. And of course you have the whole scary villain character and story line Remi is all secretive about.

They had a seriously intense push and pull happening and I could feel the angst and need between them. Yes, the back and forth between them got a little repetitive but the tension between them definitely made up for it.Not when the man who broke her teenage heart into splinters keeps showing up at her parents' dinner table. This book had everything I loved and could have wanted, but also introduced me to things I didn’t know I wanted.
