Description

The memory foam ear pads feel quite comfortable, and while they do warm up, it’s no more than average.

The Skullcandy Crusher ANC 2 is the latest version of the American audio brand’s Crusher series of headphones. They’re easy to identify without looking, since the central play/pause button is concave and the other two each have a unique protrusion to feel. The headphones output audio via a pair of 40mm drivers, and even before I engaged the sensory bass function, it became clear that Skullcandy’s reputation for deeply resonant bass is alive and well with the Crusher ANC 2. First up, we carried out the test via Bluetooth, without ANC enabled, without hearing profiles activated and with the bass in a neutral position. Selected lines only, determined by size, weight or whether delivered direct from one of our suppliers.

Our advanced ANC is adjustable, too — so you can set your own custom level using a slider in the Skull-iQ App. If there was an option in the app to turn off the headphones after, say, 15 minutes of no playback, that would be helpful for folks.By taking a short hearing test, you’ll create a personalized sound profile which the Skull-iQ App uses to tune your headphones to your unique hearing. I never felt fatigued from the clamping pressure and my ears never got uncomfortably warm in testing. During the test, we also noticed that if you put the whole of your left palm across the left earpiece, the Crusher ANC occasionally acknowledges this with a loud feedback loop. Sony headphones, for example, employ little touches of rose gold and the Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700 see the earcups moving up and down a singular headband.

It is nice to see that Skullcandy offers a more discreet and visually work-friendly set of headphones without having to compromise on your inner child’s bassy taste. The company claims you’ll get 50 hours of playback time with ANC turned on, and I’m inclined to believe it.For due diligence, I tried the headphones at full volume and with the bass at its highest level—I wanted to throw them off my head immediately once I did. Unless you really love bass and want to feel every drop or explosion while watching movies, your money is better spent elsewhere. On the highest intensity, you can hear a decent amount of ambient sound filtered through, but it’s thin and very compressed. But if you just want to feel vibrations in your brain, nothing we've tested in recent memory comes close to these crushing cans from Skullcandy.

If you have a non-BNPL balance, you will still need to make at least your minimum payment as shown on your statement.

For testing, we left the bass boost feature on because it's one of the main selling points of the headphones. We heard your desperate pleas, but we wouldn’t drop another Crusher until we had something that would blow your mind.
