For example, when set to diving mode, the hour and minute hands will stack on top of each other and move in unison to increase legibility while tracking elapsed time. The whole reason I jumped back to G shock from my mechanical watches is that I am done with the fragility of analogs. I don't want to make a compromise between the 20 year old dw-8200s or the new GWF-D1000 and the GWFA-1000(which design I can not approve).

The only aspect which may reach the end of its useful life is the app, should Casio decide to alter the way it connects with its watches in the future. By the way a common failure point for watches worn in the water or in big surf is the strap or bracelet; you probably don't have to worry about that with the Frogman, though. The Frogman has always been one of the most interesting and unique G-SHOCK collections, and giving it the MR-G treatment really turns things up to 11. The hour and minute hands can be brought together as one at the start of a dive to indicate the diving time.Large, luminescent hour and minute hands improve readability, and the face is designed to provide intuitive indication of measurement information. To strengthen the shock-resistant structure, fluoro rubber buffers are incorporated into exterior components around the case, helping to absorb shocks as well as to protect the crystal. The face-guarding components are made with lightweight, rust-resistant titanium and treated with a deep-layer hardening process and DLC coating to provide even greater strength and abrasion resistance. Crafted with purpose, this Frogman Borneo Rainbow Toad or the first Limited Edition of Analog Frogman GWF-A1000BRT-1AJR is an expression of utility and structure. A slight impact to the crown killed the date platform and left a stress crack on the crown tube unnoticed by the watch maker that later let water in.

Various applications and a continuous numbering make this release unique – collectors, listen closely.

Two years and more than 200 prototypes later, in 1983, G-SHOCK was born and has been making tough watches, coveted by collectors and laymen alike, ever since. which is one of the brand’s premium movements that offer a wealth of dive-oriented functionality and modern-day conveniences. While the Frogman doesn’t deliver notifications, have a touchscreen, or run apps, the Bluetooth connection makes using the watch’s functions quicker and easier, while also adding some relevant functionality to increase the watch’s usefulness.

It might all sound a little confusing, and it definitely took reading the manual to get my head around, but it’s all fairly intuitive once you get the hang of it. Sitting at the very top of the Casio G-Shock spectrum is the MR-G series, and these models feature advanced internal modules paired with finely finished full-metal cases. It's not intended as a substitute for a modern electronic dive computer but it's certainly about as solid a backup as you could want. It's a bit of a shock having a near 60mm watch on your wrist for the first day or so, but I found myself warming up to it pretty fast.
